Kai Iwi Beach Camp offers a laid-back coastal setting for school camps, just 10 minutes from Whanganui. With powered and non-powered sites, self contained and camp style batches. A well-equipped kitchen, and a large hall available for hire, the camp gives schools flexibility to design their own programmes. Just a short walk from the beach and playgrounds, with plenty of open space for games and activities, Kai Iwi Beach Camp is a convenient and affordable option for relaxed, nature-based school camps.

Get a local fossil lesson. We have many great fossils from the area we are happy to show off. Go out fossil hunting (beach is walking distance). You will find rocks with shells and have a chance at shark teeth, Moa (in stone) and a wide range of sea life. Discuss the geographically useful cliffs. Visit many local features like busy park, Victoria and Virginia lake, the museum and art gallery. Whanganui has a lot of offer.

    Omg this place is magical. Stayed here Sunday the 26th April 2026. Cute cabin with great view of play ground. Easy access to the beach, showers, toilets and kitchen. Definitely recommend this place to all friends etc… will definitely come back our selves to stay for a get away. Lovely people and very helpful staff.

    Wonderful hidden gem on coast, just 15 mins into whanganui. Spent three nights here and really enjoyed, typical nz old school camp ground. Showers are awesome and great to do laundry. Lovely grounds with little hedges separating caravan spots giving you privacy. Loved our stay here.

    What a lovely camp ground. Easy access, plenty of camping or parking sites from private with hedging to open for groups. Very clean and well kept. Extremely informative and friendly staff. Walking or biking distance to the beach which is a great explore, walk or swim when sea friendly! Highly recommend!

    A nice well laid out holiday park. Plenty of cabins on site plus powered and unpowered sites for campervan . Heaps of tent sites. Nice kitchen dining area. Well kept clean toilets and showers. Dump station on site for campervans. A short walk to the beach.

    Great place to camp🏕️ The area was clean and green. Quiet and people from the other camp were helpful to us. Close to the beach shore ✨ Stunning views from the beach and by the hills.

    It would be rude not to review our own campground which we run with friends. Lots of people know and love our iconic Kiwiana camp by the sea offering fishing, fossil hunting, and relaxation. Improving all the time come and see what is to love.
