Kaitoke Outdoor Education Centre is set on 38 acres of natural and regenerating bush in Upper Hutt and offers a full school camp experience with onsite accommodation and fully facilitated outdoor education programmes. The centre is operated by Y-Central and caters to schools looking for structured, meaningful time in the outdoors.
Accommodation includes bunk-style cabins, leaders’ quarters, a dining hall, commercial kitchen, shower and toilet blocks, and a large indoor recreation hall. The setting provides direct access to native bush, a stream, and open areas for outdoor learning and games.
Programmes are led by trained instructors and are tailored to meet the needs of each school. Activities include archery, kayaking, abseiling, high and low ropes, confidence course, bush skills, team building, initiative games, and orienteering. The focus is on experiential learning that helps students grow in confidence, leadership, and cooperation.
