Great location and friendly staff. However, you have to pay extra for most of the facilities so not an affordable camping holiday for a family of 5 in school days. They maybe have better prices on off season or for members. The rec room required $2 coin for any of the games, the spa was $15 for 30 minutes, the buggies were $10 an hour and they charge extra per person staying so it all added up to $300 per night for the motel excluding the facilities. For the same price you can stay in the Rydges Rotorua. Just bare in mind; it's expensive and reception is poor for those that care about wifi. If price is not a factor, I highly recommend it.

Lovely location, affordable rooms, good+clean facilities. The only thing that could have been better was if the heaters had a bit more grunt to them – they just took the edge off the cold so it wasn't a problem though. Includes 1GB of WiFi per device (for free) which was great because cellphone reception is limited/wasn't happening for us.

I stayed in an ensuite cabin, an older style accommodation. The bathroom is small and it has a leather style concertina door, but the bathrooms are close if you’re staying there with family.
Overall it was comfortable. The wifi was good (cellphone reception in the area was not good). It’s a pleasant, short, drive from Rotorua. There are a couple of trails nearby, including around the lake.
I definitely recommend it as a getaway spot.

First time staying at Blue Lake TOP 10 Holiday Park and we had a really great experience overall.
The sites were large and very generously sized, which made a big difference to comfort. There are heaps of powered and non-powered sites scattered around the park, and it’s generally first in, first served when choosing your spot.
The facilities were excellent—there were plenty of kitchens, dining areas, and activities for the kids. The recreational room with the TV and the two playgrounds were great additions, and being literally across the road from the lake was a huge bonus.
Service was amazing from reception right from the moment we checked in. The cleanliness of the facilities really stood out—everything was cleaned so frequently that we never had to worry about dirty bathrooms. The basins, kitchens, and toilets were consistently clean, and rubbish was emptied regularly.
There were also heaps of barbecues available, complete with utensils if needed, plus plenty of fridge space.
One thing to note: depending on the time of year (we stayed in Autumn), as the park is quite low-lying, condensation can build up in tents overnight. If you’re camping, it might be worth asking for a higher ground site if available.
We stayed over Easter weekend and it was awesome for families—the park organised an Easter egg hunt on Sunday, and throughout the weekend there were little eggs hidden around the park for kids to find, which was a really nice touch.
Another highlight was the bilingual signage throughout the park in both Māori and English. It was a thoughtful touch that really stood out, created a welcoming environment, and left a positive impression, everything was still clear, no confusion at all 😏.
Overall, it was everything you’d expect and more—we’d definitely stay again.

This is a review purely for the dog owners as the service was good amenities good and the location amazing!

It states its dog friendly but it really isn’t… we arrived and were put in an odd patch of land near the main road about 40 x 40 and all the dogs were in this area. We were placed in the middle of the roundabout…..We weren’t allowed to leave this area with our our dog (even on a leash) only turning right to head out of the park.
This was hard because I was there alone with my dog and the amenities were in the main camp (yes no amenities in the dog part) for $78 a night this was so disappointing. I’d suggest to go stay at the thermal park 10 mins away, super friendly amazing amenities and good location AND the dogs can go anywhere AND it’s half the price.

No hate on the blue lakes holiday park but it is definitely not pet friendly!
