Profile
Fergs Rock N’ Kayak offers exciting, safe, and professionally led activity packages tailored specifically for school and scout groups. Situated at Shed 6 on Queen’s Wharf in Wellington, they deliver engaging experiences that foster teamwork, confidence, and fun.
Core activities include rock climbing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and rollerblading—all facilitated by qualified instructors who prioritise safety, using top-of-the-line equipment and comprehensive risk assessments. Available session formats range from short 1–2 hour activities to full-day packages and multi-session skills programmes—such as NCEA rock climbing, ATC belaying, and lead climbing sessions.
Fergs’ indoor climbing facility is centrally located on the waterfront in Wellington City, offering both rock climbing and bouldering options suitable for all skill levels—from novices to seasoned climbers. They also run a term-based Adventure Club for ages 8–17, focusing on building climbing skills and teamwork through structured, weekly sessions. The programme is divided into skill-level streams (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and includes gym access for practice outside class hours. Instruction is delivered in small groups with a maximum 1:8 instructor-to-child ratio, ensuring personalised attention and a safe learning environment.
Additional offerings include introductory rock courses like Intro to Rock (1 hr), Climb Well (2 hrs), and multi-session training in lead climbing and lead belaying, providing a progression path for schools keen on structured skill development.
With its range of climbing and paddling activities, expert instruction, flexible session formats, and safe, urban convenience, Fergs Rock N’ Kayak makes it easy to integrate high-quality adventure-based learning into your school or scout programme.
