Profile
Adventure Southland, based in Invercargill, provides schools and youth groups with exciting, safe, and educational outdoor experiences. Specialising in adventure-based learning, the centre designs programmes that suit the needs of primary through to tertiary students, as well as sports teams and other large youth groups.
Students have the chance to take on challenges that push them outside their comfort zones while building confidence, resilience, and teamwork. The high and low ropes courses are a highlight, encouraging communication and trust as participants support each other through obstacles. For those seeking more adrenaline, activities such as the giant swing, zipline, rock climbing, and abseiling provide unforgettable experiences.
Adventure Southland also offers opportunities to connect with the natural environment. Groups can learn bushcraft skills, head out on caving adventures, or explore the water through sea kayaking. An outdoor climbing wall and a variety of team-building challenges add further variety to the programmes. Each activity is led by qualified instructors who focus on safety, professional guidance, and creating a positive environment for learning.
Programmes are flexible in both length and structure, ensuring schools can tailor the experience to fit their curriculum goals, timeframe, and group size. Whether it’s a half-day challenge, a full-day adventure, or a multi-day camp, Adventure Southland makes planning simple by providing the instruction, equipment, and risk management needed.
The benefits extend well beyond the camp itself. Students return to the classroom with new skills in problem-solving, leadership, and communication, as well as a greater appreciation for the outdoors. With a strong focus on curriculum support in areas such as PE, personal development, and environmental awareness, Adventure Southland creates experiences that are both fun and meaningful.
