Profile
Camp Bentzon is a well-established school camp offering a unique outdoor education experience in a bush and coastal setting. With no road access, the environment is safe, focused, and free from distractions, encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones and connect with nature and one another.
The camp can accommodate up to 120 people in bunk-style dormitories, with additional space for tenting if needed. Pillows and mattresses are provided, and there is accessible accommodation available for students or adults with mobility needs. Facilities include a large recreation room, drying room, and a full commercial kitchen with a walk-in chiller and freezer, making self-catering simple and efficient. There is also indoor and outdoor dining space and BBQs available for group meals.
Camp Bentzon supports a wide range of both land and water-based activities. Many are included in the standard camp fee, offering great value for schools. These include kayaking, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding, raft building, rowing, archery, orienteering, bushwalking, wharf jumping, bivouac building, and the Burma trail. There’s also an on-site observatory for evening astronomy sessions and the option to arrange activities like abseiling.
Teachers and parent helpers are encouraged to lead activities, but trained instructors are available for more specialised sessions such as kayaking and sailing. The camp is designed to support both structured learning and informal team building, giving schools the flexibility to create a programme that suits their students’ needs.
Camp Bentzon has been hosting school groups for decades and continues to provide a trusted environment for building confidence, resilience, and teamwork. Its strong sense of community, practical facilities, and hands-on activity options make it an excellent choice for primary and intermediate school camps focused on outdoor learning and adventure.
