Profile
Tautuku Outdoor Education Centre is the first of two camps operated by the Otago Youth Adventure Trust. Located in the William King Scenic Reserve on the Catlins coast, the camp sits beside the Tautuku River and is surrounded by native bush, providing a remote and immersive setting for school camps.
Camps are run in partnership with schools, supported by trained volunteers from the Youth Adventure Trust. Activities include kayaking, abseiling, tramping, bivvy building, confidence courses, and team-based challenges, all designed to build resilience, teamwork, and self-belief.
Facilities include bunkroom accommodation, a kitchen, dining area, and indoor spaces for learning and group sessions. As the site is located on Department of Conservation land, no animals are allowed.
Tautuku is well suited to schools seeking a values-driven outdoor education experience in a unique natural environment.
